Chankannabb
Our second excursion was to a National Park on the island called Chankannabb...its a nice beach with lots to do inlcuding swimming with dolphins, snorkeling and sucba diving...it also has a large freshwater lagoon that before Hurricane Wilma, had beautiful coral formations...these were destroyed in the storm and are slowly growing back...a lot of the island, we came to find out, was totally devasted by this hurricane that sat on the island for three days...you can tell that the place is gradually rebuilding but that the main attraction--the coral reef--will take 10-20 years to grow back...
