Old Town Clovis!
This weekend, Erik took a jet home to Florida to visit his parents and Maverick! So, my parents and the girls and I decided to take a little road trip to see Fresno's Blossom Trail! We had grand visions of something "cherry Blossom Festival"-like, with the fresno co. tourism site boasting of "hiking, biking, and driving the trail nestled in the foothills of the Sierras"...hmmmmm, not so much!
The trail is supposed to be a 64-mile long drive trough some small "quaint" towns of Fresno Co., with views of the many different blossoms that come out Feb through the end of March...Saturday was the kick-off day with a festival in a town called Sanger so we decided to make our destination there...I should have picked up on some thing when I asked my dear neighbor Jennifer (who has lived her all her life, mind you...) if she had ever gone...to this she replied, "uhhhh, noooo..."
Well, while the blossoms were beautiful, there really was no formal trail...the "quaint" towns were more like those sad towns you pass on the way to the beach in MD over on the Eastern shore and the festival had more "suped up" cars on show than anything else-- a lot of low riders with custom painting and large rims everywhere you looked! Needless to say, we DID NOT get out of the car! (scary!)
I tried to redeem the day by finding Old Town Clovis, which I had heard about before as being a nice, cute place to visit...and it was! There are a few streets that look straight out of the Old West filled with antique shops, book stores, a little restaurants! So the day was saved after all...
